How Do You Stay Motivated To Exercise?

I wanted to open this one up for comments and let people discuss how they stay motivated to exercise. Everyone has days when they don’t feel like working out, but we all (hopefully) end up going anyway. Personally, my greatest motivator is the way I feel after a workout. I always feel like I’ve accomplished a lot and have taken a step in the right direction towards achieving my goals. Not to mention the muscle pump I get in the gym that keeps me going back day after day. Writing this blog also helps to keep me going because I’m constantly learning and thinking about new exercises, supplements, and fitness products.
Here are some other common motivators:
- Stress relief
- Adrenaline rush
- Workout partner
- How you look in the mirror
- …
In what ways do you motivate yourself to workout?

I know it’s hard to always stay motivated, but for me it’s about looking good and feeling good about myself.
Also, if there’s something coming up in my life like I know I’m going to the beach or on vacation I want to look good. It’s not all about vanity as much as it’s about positive feelings towards myself. Not to mention is does help alleviate stress when you get that blood pumping!
I have put together an e-report for this specific topic. You can get it for FREE at http://www.performbettergolf.com/FitnessMotivationEbook.pdf
Hope you enjoy it,

Thanks, Mike! I’ll be sure to check out your e-book.
I find that a workout partner really helps. Sometimes after a long day at work the thought of facing the gym alone is a little too much. Plus, as you say having a fitness related blog is a great way to keep yourself motivated because you can get lots of help, support and advice from outside your usual circle of friends.
I also find the aching sensation you feel in your muscles the day after you work out is a really good motivator. If my muscles are aching I know I’ve completed an effective workout.
Good point Tom. Many people get discouraged when their muscles are sore after working out, but I take it as a good sign and definitely use it as a motivator.
